ANALYSIS OF THE WALKING DEAD

The Walking Dead is an American series that starts off with a zombie apocalypse. People that have survived this apocalypse fight "walkers" and other groups of people to survive looking for food, shelter and ammunition.

The clothes they are wearing and wounds on their bodies represents the rough times they have been going through trying to find Beth and get Noah back home. It is shown by the rips, holes, dirt blood and sweat stains on their clothes , which also shows the period of time in which they haven't found a proper shelter with food and water.

The scene starts off with a canted angle and low-key lighting to create an unceasing effect among the audience and also includes a master shot to show all the characters in the room. This scene is when Noah is changing from Rick's group to a different group in exchange  for Beth. As he does this, he gives Rick the gun he gave Noah to learn how to protect himself. The environment is tense and the characters act scared and worried, being that this decision is something risky as everyone is armed. There is only diegetic sound to create a disorientated effect among the audience. There is no music in the background to create complete silence and compliment the scary situation.

In this scene, there is a canted angle as Beth runs up to Noah and gives him a hug with a close-up of the two hugging. Beth has cuts on her face and holes in her clothes to show the struggle she has been through. There is a shot-reverse-shot between Noah and the policewoman talking, to which it cuts to Noah looking at her. Beth shows expressions of anger, showing body language of intimidated but also confident as the situation grows more tense and music commences slowly increasing in volume to warn the audience that something may occur. A high angle is shown from Beth's side to show superiority of the team against the team of policemen and doctors. As Beth stabs the policewoman with scissors, there is a jump cut to the policewoman shooting Beth in the head in slow motion with the sound of the gun fire echoeing. This jump cut creates a sense of the two actions being simultaneous and the music softens out as the gun shot echoes. There is silence among the crew and jumps to close ups on the members of the team's shocked and baffled faces as the non-diegetic music in the background is the only thing that is heard among the audience.

Due to the action occurred, everything is in slow motion and the sound of Darryl taking his gun out echoes as he shoots the policewoman in the head. The facial expressions of Darryl shows anger and also sympathy with tears in his eyes for the girl (Beth) they just lost, who he was very close with. Music starts playing in the background softly to create a depressing feel among the audience and include them in the feeling of the team mates. They instantely take out their guns to which a cross-cut answers with the other team copying. As the police team try to convince Rick's team of staying, a shot-reverse-shot is used, still using a canted angle showing the faces of the members of the team with tears in their eyes and miresable facial expressions.

The scene is then cut to a master shot of the other members of the team appearing in an old-looking fire engine covered in blood to the location that the are in which is a hospital with the music intensifying as they get closer to the door of the hospital.  A dolly shot follows the people entering the gate and an eyeline match of what it in front of them which is dead zombies and the door. The sound of the zombies and the killing of them is a distant echoe, as the music takes an important part in creating the correct emotion which, in this case is a feeling of sorrow for the loss.
